Northern Cebu has the best white sand beaches, and one of my favorite is Bantayan Island. For all you beach bums out there, like us, if you want to just chill at the beach, enjoy the clear waters and get a tan, I suggest you visit this island. It was amazing! Stayed there for 3 days. 🙂
From Mactan, we took a cab going to the Cebu North terminal station. We rode an air conditioned bus going to Hagnaya port, travel time was 3 hours. Buses leave as early as 4:00 AM. Then at Hagnaya port, catch a ferry going to Santa Fe for an hour. Our resort was 5 minutes away from the port. The resort service shuttle picked us up at the port.
We stayed at Anika Island Resort. It’s a beach front resort that’s why we loved it! White powdery sand for the win! It was not cheap but the room, furnitures and the vibe was just perfect. 🙂

View from our room. Tip: Pick the Ocean view room, left side of the beach, because the WiFi router is located there. LOL. 🙂
We rented bicycles and cruised around Sugar Beach. You can swim there too, for only Php30. 🙂
On our second day, we decided to go to Virgin Island. The resort helped us book a boat going there. It’s a 30 minute boat ride.
We were mesmerized by its beauty. The clear blue water, add the good weather, just pure awesomeness! 🙂
There were hammocks everywhere! So relaxing! 🙂
If you’re planning to stay there for the whole day, you can bring packed food or snacks. There’s also a store that sells snacks and drinks, although the drinks weren’t cold when we were there.
Snorkeling gear comes with the boat rental. There were few small fishes that you can see there.
We spent the whole morning there. Before lunch, we went back and rented a motorbike to go to Santa Fe Beach Club.
We had lunch there with this view. 🙂
There’s a cave inside the resort, called Ogtong Cave. We stayed there for a bit after lunch. Water was clear and clean.
One thing I liked about the resort were the Bougainvillea flowers in my favorite colors – pink and white. 🙂
On our third day, we just stayed at the beach before going back to Manila. Perfect weather! 🙂
That was our short trip to Bantayan Island, Cebu. Short but worth it! If you love diving, I heard that it’s also a good diving place. There’s also Sky diving in Santa Fe! We didn’t try though, because of lack of time. But we will be back there for sure. 🙂
Here were our expenses:
