Cherry Blossoms | Yangmingshan National Park in Taiwan

Cherry Blossoms! Wahhh! I love them so much! I have been dreaming to see one since I was a kid. From what I know, March and April are the months when Cherry Blossoms bloom and it is more popular in Japan or Korea, but Taiwan?! I was thrilled! 😍

A cherry blossom is the flower of any of several trees of genus Prunus, particularly the Japanese cherry, Prunus serrulata, which is called sakura after the Japanese.

Currently it is widely distributed, especially in the temperate zone of the Northern Hemisphere including Japan, China, Korea, Europe, West Siberia, India, Canada, and the United States. Along with the chrysanthemum, the cherry blossom is considered the national flower of Japan. – Info from Wikipedia

One day, while browsing my social media account, I found out that Taiwan also has Cherry Blossoms. I immediately check the airfare costs and told Kaeser about it. Upon doing my research, I’ve learned that we need to acquire visa to go to Taiwan. Click How to Apply for a Taiwan E-Visa for Filipinos.

There are certain areas in Taiwan that you can see and experience the beauty of the Cherry Blossoms. It usually start to bloom in early February until mid March. There are websites that will show you the forecast of when it will bloom, but it really depends on the weather.

Here are some places that you can visit:

  • Alishan National Scenic Area
  • Yangmingshan National Park
  • Wuling Farm
  • Tamsui/Danshui
  • Wulai Scenic Area and Old Street
  • Sun Moon Lake
  • Renshan Botanica Garden
  • Taipei City

When I was doing my research, meaning browsing my Instagram and stalking the hashtag #TaiwanCherryBlossoms, I saw that more people are going to Yangmingshan National Park. I was literally checking it everyday to know if there’s still Cherry Blossoms when we get there. And being an excited kid, I made sure that it was first in my itinerary, to go to Yangmingshan National Park. It is located in the north part of Beitou and the total area of the park is 125 hectares.

Transportation:

  • From Taipei Main Station, exit at North 2 and ride Bus number 260. That will go straight to Yamingshan National Park
  • Bus fare is $30 one way payable by cash or EasyCard
  • Travel time is around 25 minutes

Here’s a signage of the bus stop

Here’s our bus

From the bus terminal in Yangmingshan, it will take about 1.3 kilometers to reach the park.

It was foggy as the park is located in the mountains. From the start of our walk towards the main attraction, we already saw some Cherry Blossom trees but most of the petals were already falling.

This is what you’ll see upon entering the park. Nature at its finest

White Cherry Blossoms! So pure😍

And the pink ones. I love it!🌸

There are Cherry Blossoms almost everywhere in the park. I can stare at them all day!🌸

Aside from the Cherry Blossoms, there are also colorful flowers around the area. Did I mention that I love flowers before? Yes, I do!!!🌼🌺🌸

There’s also a huge clock made of  flowers

We stayed for about 2 hours just admiring the beauty of the place. There are food stalls in the area so you can eat there too. Buses are readily available going back to Taipei Main Station.

And just like that, I was able to fulfill one my dreams! It was such a wonderful and memorable experience, words are not enough to express it! I can’t wait for you guys to experience it too. ☺️
